Paris Jackson Seeks $600M From Michael Jackson Estate
Paris Jackson has asked a Los Angeles court to order a preliminary distribution of $600 million from her late father Michael Jackson’s estate to the Michael Jackson Family Trust, according to a court filing reported by Page Six on 2 November 2026. The 28-year-old singer argues there is no legitimate reason the money has not been transferred more than 17 years after the King of Pop’s death.
What the petition says
According to Page Six, which says it obtained the filing, Paris claims that despite the estate generating billions of dollars and accumulating hundreds of millions in cash, the trust intended to benefit her and her brothers, Prince, 29, and Bigi, 24, remains unfunded. The petition, filed on 29 October in Los Angeles Superior Court, takes aim at longtime executor John Branca, accusing him of maintaining an “iron grip” over the siblings by controlling when and if they receive money from their father’s estate. Branca, an attorney and chairman of The Michael Jackson Company, was first hired by Michael Jackson in 1985.
The estate’s response
A spokesperson for the Michael Jackson Estate told Page Six that Paris’s lawyers are well aware the estate is prevented from fully funding the charitable foundation and the individual trusts until several legal hurdles are removed, including in particular ongoing IRS litigation in which the tax authority sought $700 million in taxes and penalties. The estate’s position, as reported, is that these unresolved legal matters block a full distribution for now.
Why the case matters
Michael Jackson died in 2009, and the long-running administration of his estate has repeatedly made headlines over its enormous earnings from music, merchandising and other ventures. Paris turns 29 in April, Prince is set to turn 30 in four months, and Bigi turns 25 in February. The petition asks the judge to order the $600 million preliminary distribution now, rather than waiting for every outstanding dispute to be resolved. No court ruling on the request has been reported yet, and the filing itself is, at this stage, one side’s claim in an ongoing legal process.
The dispute also highlights how complex large celebrity estates can become when tax litigation drags on for years. The estate has argued that it cannot fully fund the beneficiaries’ trusts while the IRS case and other hurdles remain open, while Paris’s filing argues that the cash already accumulated is more than enough to justify a preliminary payment to the family trust. How the Los Angeles court responds will be watched closely, not only by Jackson fans but also as a test of how much control executors can retain over distributions nearly two decades after the singer’s death.
