Kevin Owens Beats CM Punk in Brutal SmackDown Main Event
Kevin Owens defeated CM Punk in a brutal No Holds Barred main event on WWE SmackDown on November 6, 2026, closing the show with a steel-chain punch after surviving Punk’s Go To Sleep. The episode, taped at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, was the go-home show before Crown Jewel in Riyadh.
Owens outlasts Punk in a violent main event
The match spilled through the arena from the opening bell. Owens struck Punk with a steel chair, put a trash can over his head and crushed it with a cannonball in the corner, and Punk answered by driving Owens through the announce table with a leaping elbow drop.
Owens later sent both men crashing through two tables at ringside with a Fisherman Buster from the apron. Back in the ring, Punk hit the Go To Sleep, but Owens bounced off the ropes and knocked Punk out with his fist wrapped in a steel chain to score the pinfall. It was Owens’ first-ever win over Punk, and the rivalry now stands level at one win each.
The finish came after a frantic closing sequence. Punk had survived a Stunner, Owens had survived a GTS, and both men were left lying in the ring as the show went off the air. Owens had earned a WWE title shot by winning his return match at SummerSlam, then cashed it in against champion Punk less than three weeks later — a match that ended with Sami Zayn costing Owens the win. This No Holds Barred bout was their chance to settle it without interference.
Charlotte Flair returns in women’s division brawl
The night’s other big moment came in the Women’s Tag Team Championship match. Champions Michin and B-Fab defended against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid, but the match ended in a no-contest after a brawl broke out involving Alexa Bliss, Tatum Paxley and Bayley — and the returning Charlotte Flair.
Flair’s comeback brought the Brooklyn crowd to its feet, and Michin and B-Fab kept their titles as the segment descended into chaos. No Women’s WarGames match was formally announced on the show.
Rest of the SmackDown card
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Tama Tonga in singles action, while Damian Priest beat Nathan Frazer by referee stoppage. The show also featured a message segment in which The 946 destroyed Jimmy Uso while addressing Roman Reigns, building heat toward Crown Jewel.
What it means for Crown Jewel
SmackDown set the table for Crown Jewel, held the following night in Riyadh, where Roman Reigns faced Sami Zayn for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship. Owens and Punk were not booked for the Saudi event, leaving their rivalry open for another chapter — possibly on the road to Survivor Series, where a traditional five-on-five elimination match was confirmed during the show.
