Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar Reunite for Film ‘One’
Aamir Khan is in talks to reunite with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani to co-produce a new film, One: The Story of the Ultimate Myth, according to reports published on November 7, 2026. If the deal goes through, pre-production on the project could begin in early 2027.
The film is set to be an adaptation of Mansoor Khan’s novel of the same name. Mansoor Khan, Aamir’s cousin, directed the actor in his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and later in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992). Trade insiders quoted by Mid-Day say talks between the three producers are ongoing and the project is taking shape behind the scenes.
A reunion 25 years after Dil Chahta Hai
The reported collaboration would bring Aamir Khan and Farhan Akhtar together as producers for the first time since Dil Chahta Hai (2001), the film that marked Akhtar’s directorial debut and became a defining film of its generation. Akhtar and Sidhwani’s banner Excel Entertainment has since become one of Bollywood’s most consistent production houses.
Aamir and Akhtar have already worked together again recently — Akhtar is backing Aamir’s upcoming project Lalkaara — but One would be their first joint production since the film that launched Excel Entertainment.
What is known about ‘One’ so far
According to the reports, Aamir Khan is backing the adaptation of Mansoor Khan’s novel and will team up with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani to produce it. No cast has been announced yet, and it is not yet confirmed whether Aamir will also act in the film or serve only as producer. The reports describe the project as being in the discussion stage, with pre-production likely to start in early 2027 if all three producers come on board.
The news comes at a time when Bollywood’s big names are keeping their Diwali celebrations low-key this year. Reports say the Bachchan family and Aamir Khan himself are skipping their traditional Diwali parties amid heightened security concerns in Mumbai, following the firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff. Several other stars, including Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap, hosted private gatherings with paparazzi kept away, while Ektaa Kapoor’s annual bash was scheduled for November 7.
Why the reunion matters
For fans, the names alone carry weight: Dil Chahta Hai remains one of the most loved films in Hindi cinema, and a reunion of its star and its director-producer duo — now with the added draw of a Mansoor Khan story — is exactly the kind of announcement Bollywood watchers have waited years for. Whether One becomes Aamir’s next big-screen outing or a pure production venture, the trade buzz around it suggests it will be one of the most tracked projects of 2027.
