Real Madrid beat Racing Santander 3-0 in La Liga
Real Madrid cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Racing Santander in La Liga on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with all three goals coming in a dominant first half at Estadio El Sardinero. Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Yan Diomande were all on target as Madrid kept pace with the Spanish league leaders.
Mbappe opens the scoring
Ballon d’Or runner-up Mbappe broke the deadlock just 11 minutes into the match, confidently dispatching a penalty he had won himself. It was his 12th league goal of the season and set the tone for a one-sided opening period. The penalty award sparked some controversy, but Mbappe made no mistake from the spot.
Madrid doubled their lead in the 21st minute through a devastating counter-attack. Arda Guler played a fine through pass that sent Bellingham clear, and the England international rounded goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala before rolling the ball into an empty net. The goal was Bellingham’s 50th in Madrid colours since joining the club in 2023, a milestone that took him past the tally of legendary midfielder Zinedine Zidane, and he reached it with 76 matches to spare.
Diomande seals the win
Summer signing Yan Diomande made it 3-0 in the 36th minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the penalty area after Guler’s corner was only cleared as far as him. Madrid scored three goals in a first half of a La Liga away match for the first time since May 2024 against Villarreal.
Racing, back in La Liga for the first time in 14 seasons, had been unbeaten in their first five home league matches, but Madrid abruptly ended that record. The hosts did win a penalty in the second half after Aurelien Tchouameni handled in the box, but the award was cancelled after a VAR review. Bellingham had a second goal ruled out in stoppage time for offside, and Endrick bent an effort narrowly wide from distance.
What the result means
The win was Madrid’s ninth league victory of the season and their sixth straight win across all competitions. Jose Mourinho’s side remain third in La Liga with 27 points from 11 matches, one point behind city rivals Atletico Madrid, who beat Levante 2-0, and three points behind leaders Barcelona, who thrashed Alaves 6-1 on Saturday. Racing sit 16th with 11 points, and the defeat was their first home loss of the campaign.
Madrid had arrived in Santander fresh from beating Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou in El Clasico. They are next in action on Wednesday night, when they travel to AEK Athens in the UEFA Champions League. The Spanish league held a moment of silence before every match this weekend to remember the victims of the deadly train crash in Spain.
